The Houston Texans became the fourth team in as many weeks

The top of the AP Pro32 power rankings is a tough spot to hold.

The Houston Texans became the fourth team in as many weeks to sit first overall in the rankings. Fresh off an impressive victory at Denver to go 3-0 for the first time, Houston replaced San Francisco as the No. 1 team in voting Tuesday by 12 media members who regularly cover the NFL. Houston earned nine first-place votes and 380 points.

"Decisive win in Denver and big-time performance from Matt Schaub, losing part of his ear in the process," 2002 NFL MVPRich Gannon of CBS Sports and Sirius XM radio said.

Schaub lost a small portion of his left ear lobe when his helmet cut it on a hard hit.

This major tournament is the first since the 2004 French Open

''It was brutal,'' Murray said about the conditions during his 3-hour-58-minute match. ''Hard to describe. You had to focus for every single point. Some of the hardest conditions I've ever played in, for sure, and I come from Scotland, so that's saying something.''

This major tournament is the first since the 2004 French Open with neither Roger Federer nor RafaelNadal in the semifinals. Federer was beaten by Berdych in the quarterfinals, while Nadal did not enter the field, sidelined by a partially torn tendon in his left knee.

Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have combined to win 29 of the last 30 major titles, a stretch that began at the 2005 French Open.

  • SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) for fast, silent auto-focus
  • Product Dimensions:?5 x 3.2 x 5.4 inches ; 1.7 pounds
  • Shipping Weight:4 poundsI purchased this lens to upgrade from the SAL75300, and what an upgrade it is! I was happy with the SAL75300, but felt the focus could be faster. The 'G' lens with SSM drive is VERY fast, And silent. I've only had the 'G' for a few days, but I used it at a water polo tourney and every shot was a keeper. Super sharp, well saturated colors, and everything else you could ask for from a 'G' series lens. A real winner with the A700 body.

Franklin can see the comedy in pretty much any situation

During the playing of the national anthem, Franklin forgot the words and could not seem to decide whether to cry or break into one of her signature dances. "I was a huge mess," she said with a laugh.

Franklin can see the comedy in pretty much any situation. An exception, of course, was the mass shooting two weeks ago in Aurora, Colo., where Franklin, who will be a senior, attends Regis Jesuit High School. Before the Games began, she said, "Every single race I'm going to have that in the back of my mind." She added, "Hopefully, I can make Colorado proud and bring a little bit of light there."

Her gritty double had a salutary effect on the United States team.

Wolfe moved up to FitzBradshaw's Nationwide team

Wolfe became a crew chief for the first time at FitzBradshaw in 2006 with driver Ruben Pardo in the K & N Series East. Pardo won on the road course at Lime Rock.

Wolfe moved up to FitzBradshaw's Nationwide team in '07 and also worked at Braun and CJM before Penske hired him in '10. Mike Bliss finished second at Memphis for the Wolfe-led FitzBradshaw team in '07 and Josh Wise had five top-10s in 17 starts in '08.

"I guess I'm fortunate," Wolfe said. "Penske called me. They had seen I'd done a great job and the best job I could with what I had. I was working with really small teams, not real big budgets and we really had to work hard with what I had. I never won races (in Nationwide), but what we were able to do with what we had was like winning races.

Watson and Simpson started as hot as the temperature

Watson and Simpson started as hot as the temperature, which climbed to 98 degrees. They both birdied the first hole before Watson, the 2010 Travelers champion, walloped his tee shot 330 yards at the 341-yard second, a par-4 that turns slightly right and climbs to a green with deep bunkers at its slopes.

Watson's shot found a shady spot near a tree to the right of the green. His bump-and-run chip from 57 feet hit the flagstick for a kick-in birdie. At the 10th hole, Watson did not let the pin get in his way, holing his sand wedge from 137 yards in the left rough for an eagle. From there, he skated along with a string of pars and a bogey at the par-3 16th hole to match Simpson's 66.

The Americans’ aggressive play paid dividends in the eighth minute

"There were enough chances to score more goals, but you have to be clinical enough to put them in," Klinsmann said. "I mentioned it at halftime. I said, 'Guys, you've got to shoot more often.' "

The Americans' aggressive play paid dividends in the eighth minute when Hérculez Gomez headed a Landon Donovan corner kick toward the goal. James parried the ball away, but the rebound fell to the American captain Carlos Bocanegra, who trundled the rebound into the net. It was Bocanegra's 13th goal for the national team, tying him with Marcelo Balboa for the most by a defender.

Antigua and Barbuda were on their heels, but a half-hour into the game they were still only one goal behind — a dream situation for the tiny Caribbean nation.
